Thank you for volunteering to be a coach this season for LYS. The program depends upon volunteers like you and we appreciate the time you dedicate so we can have a season.
All coaches and volunteers who will have contact with any player must complete the below listed requirements prior to being able to take the field with players. At the end of the process coaches will receive a coach credential badge and will be added to the roster for their team.
The requirements are:
1. Communicate with the Division Director - The first step is letting the division director (Intown, Girls Travel, or Boys Travel) know you are willing to coach and confirming the need for coaches in your players age group/division. This early communication will ensure you are not completing the below requirements for a team that may already have enough volunteers signed up.
2. Registration/CORI Authorization - Coaches must register EVERY SEASON. Much of your information will carry over, but until you register for the season and let MYSA know you are coaching for LYS this season the CORI Director is unable to see your account.

PLEASE DO NOT CREATE A NEW ACCOUNT IF YOU HAVE PREVIOUSLY REGISTERED. Creating a duplicate account will only cause a problem with the credential system. If you are unable to get into your existing account please submit a ticket to receive assistance.
During the Registration process you will authorize MYSA to perform a Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI) search. If the search is clear you will be informed by the LYS CORI Director that you are all set.
If your CORI search is not clear you will receive a letter from MYSA and/or the Center for Safe Sport.

3. Photo upload - From the registration portal, upload a photo to be used on your credential badge. If you uploaded a photo during a prior season the photo will carry over until you change it.
Please note the following guidelines for photos -
1. The photo CANNOT be your license photo.
2. You must be the only one in the photo.
3. No hats or sunglasses.
Photos that do not fit these guidelines will be deleted.
4. License upload - From the registration portal, upload a photo or scan of your license.
Returning coaches - please check to make sure your license is up to date. The CORI Director is not able to update your license expiration in the system, you must update this or a request must be made to MYSA for assistance.
5. Verification - During the verification process the CORI Director for LYS or MYSA will meet with you briefly (in person or via Zoom/Google meet/Facetime) to confirm that you are the person identified in your license (or passport, gov't id) and that all information matches that which was submitted for your CORI report.
6. Safe Sport training - The Safe Sport training needs to be completed during the calendar year. For example - coaches for the 2024 Spring and Fall seasons must have completed the training on or after January 1, 2024.

Once you have completed the Safe Sports training go back to the Certificates page in Sports Connect and click the blue button at the top of the page "Get Safe Sports Updates" - it should check off the box at the bottom of the page.
7. Concussion training - Concussion trainings must have been completed on or after 6/1/23.

Please note - there are two trainings off different platforms that are accepted here. Most returning coaches are familiar with the CDC Heads Up program - https://www.train.org/cdctrain/course/1089818/ If you opt for this training please save your certificate to your device and upload it to the Certificates page in Sports Connect.
There is also a training through US Soccer - https://learning.ussoccer.com/ - "Introduction to Safe and Healthy Playing Environment" is the one that fulfills the concussion training requirement. If you opt for this training you will click on the "License" tab in Sports Connect and then "Get Learning Center Updates" to check off the concussion box.
Once the above items have been completed the LYS CORI Director will be able to print a credential badge for the season and the division director will be able to link you to your team's roster. Coaches are to wear their credentials for all games and practices, and for Travel teams, only coaches listed on the roster can coach games.
